Phrozen Announced Sonic Mini 8K Resin 3D Printer

The Taiwanese company Phrozen has announced another desktop 8K resin 3D printer. Although the new Sonic Mini 8K will be much inferior to its older brother Sonic Mega 8K in terms of the build volume, it will obviously cost several times cheaper.

The Sonic Mega 8K 3D printer went on sale last summer. The new LCD MSLA system received a monochrome 15-inch screen with a pixel size of 43 mm and a print area of 330 x 185 x 400 mm. The specs are impressive, and the product has had great success with users, so Phrozen decided to go on with the lineup of 8K printers and release a device for those on tight budget.

The new device features a 7.1-inch liquid crystal matrix with a resolution of 7500 x 3240 and a pixel size of only 22 microns, with a build volume of 165 x 72 x 180 mm. Judging by the illustrations, the scheme of the light module is to some extent borrowed from the new generation of HALOT 3D printers from Creality: here the emitted light is also reflected on the matrix by a mirror, and the manufacturer promises high uniformity of illumination — over 90%.

The print speed along the Z axis supposedly reaches 80 mm/h. The Sonic Mini 8K is equipped with a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a USB port; the ChiTuBox slicer version 1.9.1 or higher is available as software.

Along with the new 3D printer, Phrozen is launching the Aqua-Gray 8K resin, but has not yet provided any details, only stating that the new resin is “designed to showcase 3D models in high resolution and works best with the Sonic Mini 8K 3D Printer. With its special formula, Aqua-Gray 8K creates high-quality & extremely intricate 3D models with 8K resolution."
